The Tippah County Archives is located in the historically registered Old County Jail at 201 Union Street, Ripley, Mississippi. Over 10,000 Chancery and Circuit Court records have already been rescued from the attic of the Tippah County Courthouse, with more waiting. Volunteers, including members of TCH&GS and the local DAR Chapter, have been working hard to open and index these documents for preservation in the now temperature and humidity controlled Archives Building.
The Tippah County Archives is open to public. Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (10:00-12:00 every 3rd Tuesday of the month)
All Archives Staff are volunteers. Please confirm hours by email before visiting.
For research request please include the following information:
1. Name of the person you are researching (full Name if Known with any alternate spellings) 2. Any information that will help identify that individual, such as names of parents, spouses, children, date of birth, death, approximate dates they lived in Tippah County, etc. 3. Your Contact information and relationship to person being researched.
Your request will be researched and we will notify you of what we find, cost, and payment options.
Photocopies: 75 cents per page plus $2.00 mailing fee* CDs: $5 (plus 50 cents per page over 20 pages) plus $2.00 mailing fee *
All research done inside the Archives if FREE!!! However, If you would like to have someone do research on your behalf outside of the Archives, send us a Facebook message or email and will put you in contact with our researcher.
